Would they consider my 8 year National Guard contact as a secure source of current and future income?

We are looking to live in one unit and rent the other as you might expect at least until we find our dream home :)I have been in the Army National Guard for about 6 years as a side hustle to my full-time job in consulting.

One of the things that I always have to guard against then looking at renovations is substituting what I would pay for in my personal home vs. what a renter will pay another $50, $100, etc. per month for. 

You could go to the nearest "large" city to find a property manager but you'll have to guard against your property being the 'red headed stepchild' of their portfolio. 

My wife and I are both prior Active Duty Air Force (she's not in the guard).
