I came to the conclusion that it had to be a scam, but I never contacted a realtor or drove up to see it.  

It promises real leads but I want to know if it's just another scam or does it actually bring you leads.

People will "suffer" a while in their young days to (hopefully) prosper later (since they've bought into the "get an education, get a good job, work hard for 40 years and try to survive on your savings and investments when you retire" bull cookies - the "40-40-40 scam").

There are some scam bots scraping cell numbers on craigslist.

@Ryan Ahlgrim - I know this is an old post, but in case anyone else reads it, this is a scam; people copy legit for rent listings, and post them "for sale" with a much lower rent price, and with different contact info, hoping for people to contact them and send them a deposit.

Please dont put down fees to "buy into the deal", 99% of the time the deal is that you just got scammed and lost $6500.

They are not a scam, they are merely a niche product offering with a high level of risk.

As an aside in an ever increasing scam prevalent culture, several tenants that I've placed were more comfortable knowing that they were working with a licensed professional using standard forms. 

Upfront money is a red flag for a scam .
