If not, you could always just drop in periodically to make sure the AC doesn't end up running on full for months on end :) I understand your concern though - not that long ago one of my friends had someone break in, put plugs in all the sinks, and run all the taps, just as a childish prank.

One CPA caller had a good idea--he suggested the banks allow people to pay principle only and double up the principle for a few years so they can build up some "skin" in the deal and add an extra year or two on the mortgage to make up the interest.
