There are some similarities, but many differences and limits that need to be understood based on its usage.With the passing of the JOBS ACT (to infuse the economy with jobs and much needed funding), there is a crowdfunding clause that has not yet come to full fruition.

You need to employe an architect, designer, engineer, and/or GC that has experience in something similar to help make the project come to fruition.

I've been in dangerous situations, I've had more deals fall through they I care to admit, I've had a listing realtor go  behind my back and buy her own listing after her client and I had agreed on a price, I've had multiple wholesalers go behind my back and try to steal my deals.All this said, I still completed 17 deal in 2014 (my first full year in RE), and planning on 40-50 deals in 2015.I am always looking into the future, picturing what my life will look like in 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, and NONE of those visions will come to fruition if I quit.Take action and keep at it, quitting won't get you anywhere.Good luck to everyone in 2015.

If you don't want to manage 5 rentals that you put $100k down for each, then buy 2 or 3 and sleep better at night knowing if the worst came to fruition that you would have enough equity to come back out in good shape. 

Either way, I believe it is all a gamble if the redevelopment plan comes to fruition or not.
