@Michael Silver: I am going to be working in the Brookline/Longwood area so being able to take the MBTA in would be ideal.Your best bet is to find a house hack within an easy commute to I-90 (a.k.a. the Mass Pike).

Some Suffolk and some Barnstable - but not so much on the north shore.The one thing I can share is that north of the Mass Pike and west of RT 128, you start to get into the Worcester hills (about 1,000 feet in altitude).
