But the reason is that here in Texas most duplexes are two separate properties that are attached... and you cannot apply a single loan for two different legal properties.

Hard not to get emotionally attached but you can’t or you’ll pay too much or you’ll end up buying properties that drain your cash flow.

The attorney will attach anything of value that you own or have lots of equity in . 

If you want to attach a line of credit to the property later, the bank will probably not issue the loan without being in 1st lien position.

I have a house with 3 car garage (1 attached, 2 detached).   

In the event of dissolution of the marriage, the former spouses hold the property as tenants in common (unless the judgment of divorce provided otherwise).Tip: Depending how title is held could have an impact on whether a judgment or other liens will attach.

Don’t become attached to the properties.

I called and spoke with the lady in charge and she said that I needed to list everything that was not attached to the home.
