Obviously, there is tremendous amount of valuable information in these forums on house hacking, and if you have the resources to consider a purchase in San Diego and life looks like you will be making that home for some time, I have found single family homes with rentable space such as guest apartments and carriage homes, as well as small multifamily(duplex - quad) can be a fantastic way, when combined with a daily rental model vs monthly rental model, to explode your passive income.
