I will echo your sentiment in that a LOT of the city is not great though I am sure there are nice parts.

I don't really want to sell because its a family home, there's a lot of sentimental value, and its located in a neighborhood going through a lot of gentrification in the Philadelphia. 

I would second that sentiment. 

The seller called me on Friday, September 11th and told me that he's had a "change of heart" and there is "sentimental value" with the property, etc.

My partner and I have been reading a lot recently about how hard it is to buy a property in New Jersey that produces positive cash flow.We made an offer that has been accepted on a property in Perth Amboy NJ and so this sentiment has us nervous.

Not sure how this sentiment was related to the cause I and my family were there for.  

@Anthony Thompson It's so tough because these prices and '9th inning' sentiment has been around for at least two years, maybe three.Rents at 25% below current market seems like a really great standard, but as you said makes growing the portfolio almost impossible.

I always thought the house was pretty special but didn't know many others would share my sentiment; the house has its quirks, albeit awesome to me. ;)@Max T. unsure what slip cash means...

That is the situation as it exists in the real world.On the other hand, here in the BP forums, we are routinely inundated with requests to know more from people who are "excited about passive income through real estate" or "finding financial freedom through rentals," or all the other different slogans and catchphrases that all essentially, boil down to one sentiment: "I want to quit my job yet have a secure income coming in as rent."
