I'm not personally familiar with the area, but I suggest CrimeGrade, Neighbordhood Scout, and searching "top/best things to do/attractions/destinations/places to see" in Michigan or that area to see if there's potential for tourism/STR :) you could also check out if there's universities for student housing or hospitals for MTRs.

The city and residents voted in favor of the "Community Corridor" design which is by far the way to go to increase tourism and "trendiness".

There is amazing food, tourism with the Cowboys practice facility shops etc.

If you think about what tourism brings, and adding another picturesque side of the city is going to take time.

I would stick to an area that has a long history of tourism being a critical component of the economy.

But now, with travel restrictions lifted, including China, tourism numbers are on the rise which is good news for the hotel industry's occupancy rates.

There is a boom happening in NC tourism, and there are more opportunities than people realize. 

Much depends on location, but San Diego is a good location for tourism and business travelers alike.As for why more people don't do it...I'm sure a lot of folks assume it's harder and more draining (physically and financially) than it really is.

This town's economy is based on tourism and there are VRs everywhere with no big player to push for heavy regulation.
