Also check with your city council person to see if any changes or regulations are being considered.I would also think it prudent to go stay in a 2-3 similar type places in your area and see if you can meet the owners and discuss their experiences.Best wishes and good luck.

If you're in one of the A zoning districts, it's very unlikely that they'll change it unless you can show that there are other multifamily properties in the area.You have to go to the zoning commission, then if they recommend approval, to the city council.
