So I attended this free financial seminar last night at my local church and the speaker mentioned on many accounts that he invest in RE.  

I remember as a boy after church, on Sunday's in LA, we would grab the Sunday paper and go straight to the real estate section and look for open houses.  

Received a lead today for a 53 year old church building - steeple and all.

Housing is really good at "convincing" the tenant that losing housing is a lot better play than losing their assistance voucher.But there are other options:  many churches and organizations will give grants to economically challenged folks for their utilities. 

Offer then to a church group if they help you fix them up and sell them if you can do a split on the earnings if there will be any.
