Rents are typically higher around here but on the flip side, the taxes and competition seem to be very high as well, specifically in the cities close to the lake (Lakewood, Rocky River, Bay Village, Westlake).

I recently came across 3 properties, one with a privately owned lake that is land-locked by the other 2, that I'd like to submit purchase option contract offers on.

It depends on if you buy the right property in the right area and are mindful of any regulations that may affect you.I have a VRBO on a lake close to a university.

I've also been in touch with a friend who owns a vacation rental home on the same lake I'm looking at, about 1.5 hrs drive from where I'm currently located.

Isaac, I currently rent two properties on AirBnB and VRBO, one in Atlanta and one on a lake near Clemson.   

While I cannot disclose the exact location due to owner wishing this to be a private deal, it is located near the shores of Lake Michigan in the city of Kenosha, Wisconsin.
