Yes, that's my perspective anyway.  

I recommend spending a couple nights in the unit so you have the perspective of a guest to notice anything you are missing or need and develop a check list for your cleaners and/or property manager.Your agent should be advising you on all of this and more and have local contacts for you. 

@Abena Edusei I like where your head is at with your perspective on the effectiveness of real estate investing, but what stands out to me are the states you mentioned in the above comment. 

You may be operating a boarding or rooming house from the city's perspective.

It's all relative and a matter of perspective.

The only advantage by calling it a second home from a lending perspective is that you can put only 10% down on a second vs 15% for an investment property.

I need your investor's perspective because I've been discouraged by homeowners.
