From what I've seen, kitchen appliances are normal sized (without dishwashers in the older models).

Maybe it's $100 to repair a dishwasher but I know I'm going to sell the property next year so I buy a new dishwasher. 

I replaced all of the appliances with brand new stainless steel Samsung stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and mounted microwave.
