There's an old adage "Any news is good news", which evaluates to 'at least my name is in the press and people are talking about ME'!

I have a number of friends who went to the protest as press or photographers and they confirmed this.

@Patrick Philip I'd bet you would be hard pressed to spend $150-200 to fill up the average refrigerator.  

You will be hard pressed to find someone willing to show you the ropes without providing value in return.

While less than 30 days doesn't create tenancy per code, you'll be hard pressed to find any  CA police dept that will enter and remove someone from a short term rental who claims rights or produces documentation.

I was offered a job by one in the twin cities for a incredible amount of money and turned it down because of their horrible press coverage and fair housing violations, I didn't want my named associated with them since they lost their rental licenses in Minneapolis.

I am not knowledgable in valuing notes, but I understand the value of the property that the lien attaches to is just one aspect of the valuation -- credit of borrower, payment history, etc. all factor in.What I think will sink this idea is that the city is not the one pressing this issue, it is a venture capital company.

When all the various matters were completed I'd return to the most pressing or most profitable and complete that.
