Don't have luxury taste, but definitely want nicer than builder grade materials (i.e. quartz in kitchen). 

Along the way however, I have stumbled into REI through a friend, at first I got a small taste and brushed it off thinking I wasn't ready or not capable of doing it.

Now that i have finally got a taste of some real land-lording action, I feel as if my Illinois (cook county) lease is weak and needs some serious revisions.

It really comes down to earned income vs passive income and what peoples' tastes are.

That said , keep in mind it is not about your taste.

But this was a gay man who had good taste and kept things up to date.

The condo is renovating the entire lobby, each floor (amazing taste and will def look luxury), and the pool deck (adding cabanas etc).

It's what everyone sees and remembers.A good rehab designer will know where to spend money to get the most bang for your renovation buck, how to deliver everything from curb appeal to intimate interior details, with taste and the proper respect for the existing arrchitecture.
