My partner and I decided to start investing in Real Estate but right now we live renting in Riverview, FL and we do not owned a house.I told her that we should start buying a multifamily and do house hacking for one or two years and then buy our primary home and rent the whole multifamily.Is that a good idea?

I have noticed over the years we are starting to get more transplants from other states, such as from CA and some of the more NE states. 

I am assuming the ultimate goal would be to live rent free.

My net is about 12k/month and I live rent/mortgage free in my house.

With that 200k I would use it towards the down payment and rehab.I would live rent free in one unit and become the care taker for the property/investment.
