Hey all, I posted on here about a year ago expressing I wanted to go in to real estate investing upon my exit from the Navy.

You would not have asked this question if your child was going to Navy Pier (knife stabbing there last weekend), or the Gold Coast (constant robberies), or Lincoln Park (shootings).

I’m a Navy veteran residing in San Diego and want to put my VA loan to good use/ get into investing in rental properties.

I'm a navy veteran and I have to say I find it rather interesting that there is a licensed realtor in North Carolina on this thread that is openly telling you that you don't have to live there.

For reference the second VA loan was through Navy Federal Credit Union and was a duplex. 

@Matthew CallahanCheck with The Navy Federal Credit Union, they have a better track record with dealing with Non Taxed Income.Also you may want to consider refiling taxes for 3 years and showing the stipends as income with an offsetting increase in deductions.
