As long as the GC is responsible for everything and reputable, according to your post above, you have a fair point.  

We can refer you to reputable contractors of all sorts that we've worked with. 

You should be able to find them easily with a web search.

For instance, the area at 38th & Post has a bad reputation because of a couple of apartment complexes.
