I was ready tobuy a brand new home here on LI waaaaay back when I was only 19, the mortage payments would`ve been only $180 a month, and the-then price of the home (Shelter Technology`s top-of-the-line model) was $28,990including land, with a choice of basement or garage, and would`ve beennot only completely paid off by now, but would now be worth approx 10X the original purchase price, even in the present down market.

As far as rentals, if you had drone pictures and/or footage, I think it might say something to the renters that you as a landlord care about your property, are in touch with new technology, and care about your image/brand.

I have no idea what future guideline changes will bring, but now there is the technological ability to actually exclude those debts, should it ever be decided by the powers that be that this would be a good idea, because the trended data is right there on the credit report (actually started appearing, in my office, a few months ago).
