On the other hand, college can provide some valuable experience and skills that can definitely give a person significant advantages in the RE world...Particularly while your friend is young, I'd suggest starting with house hacking because it's arguably the best way for a beginner to acquire their first property (and learn a lot about real estate and property management in the process)--I'd suggest doing this ASAP regardless of whether he enrolls in college.If your friend is dead-set on a college degree, I think that you're correct that majors and classes focused on business admin, finance and accounting  would be useful.

All the applicants stated it was the cheapest rent the found in the area for a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom rental, especially considering it was nicer than most at a higher price.Second, I learned the enrollment and the local university was down about 10-15% over the last couple of years.Finally, I learned that there has been a large increase in student housing in the last 2 years, leading to roughly a 30% vacancy rate in the city at the moment and a lot of major companies offering incentives (first month free, free preferred parking, reduced rate with multi-year contract, etc.) to pull tenants.

If you are talking about a residential property, I would be pretty shocked to see a property manager covering the costs of an eviction (unless you have enrolled in some type of eviction protection program like someone mentioned above).
