We have rented to both businesses that have traveling workers and churches that have traveling missionaries.That said, trying to claim the place where you live as a business expense would probably be seen as tax fraud. 

We're not a high income family (my wife works in our church) and we live in the Midwest which also creates a different set of challenges.

You will have better luck there or in areas like Northside, East End (Church Hill area), or Southside.

The good thing is that those properties owned by a church so im not dealing with one person, so they might be more lenient.
