I'd take a plane and flight as far as possible!

They can sue you for their time finding a new place, changing flight costs, etc.They can also contact your HOA and make such a stink that the HOA never allows you to rent your place again. 

Hey everyone - I’m in Navy flight school over in Corpus Christi right now but was hoping to get in touch with some current real estate investors in the south Texas area to pick your brains!

The only snag for me is I would only be able to catch one full day and a half starting Monday since my flight there will be late after the convention begins.

Let's see You are about a 30hr trip maybe 24hrs of flight time from Australia to Chicago You can't know the market enough not being on the ground to accurately value properties.

As a follow-up, typically the airport is owned by someone and businesses called FBOs (Fixed Base Operators) rent space on the land to run things like flight schools, airplane rental companies, and repair/inspection shops.
