A global deflation in currency. 

For ex: I have a section 8 tenant ( one of my best tenants) who has been with me for several year, the housing authority has denied every attempt of a rent increase each year for even an amount as low as $5 ( yes $5 bucks, I was testing them).Some of the things I love about section 8:* You can use the rules to your advantage.

Cash is the most liquid form of currency there is, and the best tool to have when purchasing power goes up.

And what the money will be used for.Third: Contact INVESTOR (stocks,hedgefunds,forex) groups or companies.

However, several years ago, last time I checked, in 2009, some banks likes HSBC, Standard Chartered has loans that allowed you to buy investment real estate in the US with very favorable interests rates, but the problem being of course that you had to play the currency exchange game.

My portfolio consisting of mostly bonds has performed YTD better than the aggressive stock portfolio.Check out Modern Portfolio Theory its not perfect but I think its probably the best system one has of managing a general portfolio.To complement my MPT portfolio, I have a small retail trading account that I like to trade forex and futures and after months of frustration I have been repaid by my S&P shorts!

Another point to consider is a "Plan B" employment - areas like Washington DC, the Carolinas, Atanta, GA, and Florida have tons of contracting or consulting jobs for ex military.  

The value of gold doesn't really change much, just the amount of dollars it takes to own some which is more a reflection of the value of the currency than the value of the gold. 

Seems like a stable investment and a nice way to diversify geography and currency risk.Bumping this thread for further discussion.

Increased money supply and currency debasement should mean property value is going up.
