It's an older property but it has a New roof, modern windows, updated electrical, etc... the updates combined with the character and charm of the old house made it attractive. 

We’ve ended up with a lot of updated properties with character in many previously low-end neighborhoods.

If it weren’t for the mortgage we’d definitely wanna live in the house we’re renovating, we’re putting quality second hand materials into it and restoring its original character as much as possible. 

There has always been money in the Bay Area but it has clearly changed and personally I don't like the wealthy vibe that the Bay Area now has; aside from the unaffordability much of the character has gone away.
