I'm also doing this with a partner who is very conservative and the concept of interest-only rings an alarm bell for him. 

You probably don't want his kids filing judgments against you and asking you to "return that golden ring worth 100k that he had hidden in his mattress".. 

I have Ramit Sethi whispering in my ear, telling me to rent, but I think the benefits differ depending on the person.
