I am from Norton, Virginia and am super appreciative that this site exists to give education, personal experience, and support to investors, new and old. I have been listening to the podcast and reading the forums and blogs.

I would like to start with buy and hold properties, and maybe adding some flips to build principle. I plan to get started in REI so that I can help rebuild my hometown, while moving towards my own financial freedom.

Norton is in the coalfields of the Appalachian mountains and since the city has been working on myriad of infrastructure and job building projects, I hope now is a good time to begin my investing story.

If anyone has any helpful tips for investing in a low populated and poverty stricken area, I'm all ears (or eyes since this is a forum).
