Agree I really dislike the lack of math and practical solutions (aside from policy changes) in these types of articles.

My point in bringing it up at all - and expressing my dislike of it as an investment - is to hopefully persuade others who may be on the fence about it to at the very least do more research.

I'll come at this from a different angle.From a personality angle.I've seen ones who are contentious with nearly every renter, ones who dislike the demographic (but do their job legally), ones who cannot close  a prospect on a unit no matter what, ones with their thoughts elsewhere, and ones who are as smooth as glass.Despite the differences, they all could do the job well enough to get buy.I like loyalty, communication as needed, and being shielded from the sharp edges of the business (things I consider sharp), such as arguing with an angry late payor over a late charge, etc... 

Now that I had chewed my own arm off to escape what was a prison (working at a job a disliked with a passion until I was 65), I had all my chips stacked on the table in front of me and here covid comes, a pandemic that essentially changed life as we know it in this country.

Liberals dislike us because we cause housing issues for low wage workers. 

With any platform, you will find things you like and dislike so I'd recommend trying them out and seeing if they are a good fit for you.

However, I’m nervous doing this bc I know some people dislike the idea of living near a STR.
