I wouldn't suggest anyone "devastate their life" for a piece of real-estate.I just think too many people have the mentality that walking away from their obligations is ok.Again, If he has the means to make up the shortfall then I think he should.

my experience with rent to own.. is that its pretty low ratio of conversions to sales.as long as your good being in the rental game long time that works.people that do this.. generally still have renter mentality.. even though you think they should act like owners they don't they still expect you to maintain home etc.. and of course they still trash em and leave em for the next one.so just be aware..
