I will do some digging on that, but here are some of my initial thoughts.  1) Any law that would require landlords to reside in the same municipality as their rental property or properties would be unconstitutional because it would be an infringement on interstate commerce. 2) States certainly can place requirements on having an agent for process purposes that resides in the state.

If the account is in the US, there is some slim chance to get the money back, assuming they haven't already shipped the money off shore (unlikely).BTW interstate/wire fraud should be a federal offenceSome people say absolutely NO up-front payments for lenders, but in my experience hard money lenders do charge a small fee up front (a couple hundred ~ a thousand bucks... not 15k+)..

Add that it was already dark out and there were no streetlights where we got caught.I started thinking that if we were on a normal interstate we would have at least had street lights and could have pulled over or exited and pulled into a gas station or something.
