I agree 3 month's is a long enough trial period.

The timeline is probably about in line with this case, if the August 2013 publish date was a few months after the trial.  

YEARS of trial and error have gotten them to the point where they are renovating many houses now.

The value of the building goes up.So in order to do any meaningful analyses I will need to look at A.) my Trial Balance, to see what the value of the building was, and B.) my income statement, which details income and expenses.

You will learn while you earn instead of wasting time and money on trial and error.
