This was completely forced by big-time private investors lobbying to push AirBnB'ers out of the city. 

Here are some examples:  (1) Town of Gardner, MA: Price Chopper added a location and anchors a shopping area around downtown & Super Wal Mart came in a little beyond the downtown area, those came in about 8 years back but it took about 5 years for property values to start appreciating dramatically, (2) Town of Athol, MA:  World's largest Hobby Lobby, Starbucks & an IMax along with a really nice Market Basket (regional supermarket), property value went up BUT it took a few years for a noticeable change and sales are still really choppy because the town itself is very remote.   

@Renata McCulloch , I've moved this post for you to the vacation rental forum like Marcia suggested.AirBnB is very appealing, but the hotel lobbies are attacking it from all angles.

If you have a really nicely themed out house with amenities attached (arcade/theater, theme rooms, private pool) then probably not necessary, but it helps. 

I was offered around $2K for use of a building lobby for a day, but the disruption to the tenants was too much hassle to make it work.

Corridors, meeting spaces, lobbies, stairways, restrooms and so on are used by all building tenants, and landlords charge for the use of this space as well.

We use this on lobby doors (or shackle locks) in multi units.

The apartment must have underground parking, a Whole Foods Market, and a Starbucks at the lobby entrance.

I would think after a busy day at the attractions most would just want to relax in a comfortable, clean quality house in their own pool...but, I could be wrong and the club houses, arcades, water parks, bars, theaters...could attract more vacationers..
