On A first house hack, owner occupied, do you have to change the address on your driver licence living there for a year?

It really depends on what types of rentals you hope to keep, if you're house hacking and flipping, etc.

I have one duplex and have been house hacking since I bought it, it's been 5 years plus I have this property and finally ready for a 2nd one, looking to see if I get another multi or a single family, any thoughts Side note I also need a bigger place since I have another child who now needs their own room.

I'm a licensed Realtor who represented myself in this transaction and I closed on a 4plex in Mesa Arizona beginning of June 2024 for $1 Million taking advantage of Fannie Mae 5% down ($50k) owner occupied loan ($950k loan) to house hack this property.

A lot of my friends and other new grad young professionals seem to congregate in areas like Midtown and lower Manhattan or in Williamsburg/Bushwick and Downtown Brooklyn.I know house hacking isn't impossible in NYC, but my most ideal areas with people my age and high traffic are also everyone else's ideal places to live, and are much harder to house hack.

It's still a sellers market so it's tough to get concessions as a buyer right now.Are you trying to house hack or is this just an investment?

@Casey Hamptondon't partner - too small, too complicated.you should both just save up to afford your own individual house hacks.

If you can find something to house hack then do it, just make sure you're aware of what the state is trying to do moving forward when it comes to being a landlord. 

Focus on saving up and doing a house hack.
