You will almost always be tagged with basis shifting and have your exchange disallowed if examined. 

Examine gross adjustments and if the the positive adjustments were not applied.  

A benefit to this method is it is easier and quicker to spot missing bins than examine a house in driving for dollars fashion, at least for me.
