I'm a non smoker and have no animals in the house.

If I see that their car is full of cigarette butts, cigarette burns and ashes; trashed and smells bad, I don't expect that they would treat my house any better.

When you have a tenant get behind on rent and retaliate by calling hud or the health department to say they have no working toilet, smoker detectors and there is a bed bug infestation you will be glad you did that check 30 days ago that said all was well!

I've had dozens of marijuana smokers in my rentals over the years and i can't think of a single one that I would consider a good tenant. 

I know that smokers are not considered a protected class, but I was wondering where I can find more information on this.
