This includes storing food in covered containers (even breakfast cereal), vacuuming the baseboards and appliances of crumbs.

For me those amenities include washer & dryer inside the unit (W/D supplied by landlord), SS appliances, granite or quartz counter tops, open floor plans, typically off street parking (not always, but it is a goal), quality hard surface flooring (hardwood or tile), kitchen island with seating or breakfast bar, private bedrooms (alot of older houses in my area are shotgun style houses, where one must walk thru bedrooms to get to other bedrooms), etc.  

A lot of people - a whole lot - that come to this are are price conscious, especially since they tend to spend most of the day gone at the parks and don't really use the home much other than eating breakfast and sleeping (at least my guests).

Perhaps you can also look into getting licensed as a "bed and breakfast" to allow sub 30 day rentals.
