I just thought it was really bizzare that he was worried about touching up the walls with the wrong color, but he didn't seem to be concerned about the leaking faucet and running toilet, which are easy to fix.

When painting a rehab I always use neutral colors, the types you describe are fine.

I could probably take all the old wall paper down and repaint everything a netural color.
