I was told that once the spouse passes, the coverage is negated and the surviving spouse doesn't have any right to that policy.

The wholesale market is wild, unregulated and although I agree that someone who doesn't have a fair business practice would not survive for long, those bad apples effect the rest of the industry.Chris, if I thought that the person who offered me that property is doing something illegal or grossly unethical, I would exposed that person on this site.

If indeed it was the properties spoken of as 50% then Bill's suggestion will solve that as well as making sure that the surviving person is the beneficiary of the insurance policy along with a power of attorney for the business affairs in the case of death or other incopasitating injury.

I have had more than one probate deal where the surviving spouse was ready or needed to relocate or downsize, so I market to them too.Cross checking the court record with the tax records is the correct approach, but I would not waste time mailing to attorneys about particular cases.
