It's like full dividend re-invest on an index fund.

I would encourage you to pick a country and then do the research on the way to buy real estate in that specific country. 

I would like to do some type of loan or HELOC product to renovate the common areas and a few units. 

I didn't want to have to remember to do that myself every time.

I struggle with podcasts because they show a slice but not usually a start-to-finish how-to and you could invest countless hours (like I did) listening to many podcasts to piece things together.

I had one that I was able to pick up last year.

Try to find experienced, straightshooters willing to do some coaching in the markets you like.
