Well, what happened was the massive humidity loosened probably 50% of the tiles, exposing the cement board/plaster product below and letting a bunch of tiles fall off the wall, where huge chunks of adhesive were stuck in the plaster.

But the exterior of the house is completely uniform -- painted cement block where you can see the outline of the blocks -- instead of the typical conversion where there is wood or some other type of material around part of where the garage used to be, that doesn't match the rest of the house.

I had to remediate the absestos adhesive under the resilient flooring in the kitchen and large pantry before I ripped all the luan plywood up and the 3/4 oak flooring underneath it with plywood over the diagonal planks, then cement board, then tile.
