I don't mind being a friendly neighbor, but I definitely want to keep things professional and not cross any lines.We are in the middle of renovating our side and our tenants just bought a lawn mower and mowed the whole front yard (which I think is normal)But now she texted me and asked if we'd mind her mowing our backyard and that it would be a privilege to do something nice for us.

You also can use the cost of the land to reduce any future taxable gains should you sell the property.If you rent the land then you are paying someone for the privilege of using their asset.

Probably other places too but seems like especially Chicago.Somehow it all seems to work for the most part (I guess it "works" for the privileged who can pay for the connected people)  but it isn't exactly fair or transparent.
