I ultimately want to buy something and live in it, and I want to stay in LA, so while being a good investment on its own merits is important, what seems to matter most is that it be better than renting.I'm sure that this has been asked/answered elsewhere on the site so I'll be digging in to see what I can find, but it's the most burning question on my mind the last few days, so I figured I'd package it in with my introduction as well.Cheers, and looking forward to getting to know many of you over the coming weeks/months!

We can discuss the relative merits and needs for days but you have to provide insurance so it's sort of moot.Also, make sure they know you want a landlord policy!

Although I disagree with that reasoning, I think there is some merit to her arguments as I tend to have a lot of free time that I could be taking action rather than just talking and dreaming about the life I want.

Im on acreage also :) I might be tempted to maybe try and legalise that mostly done garage rental as the ADU, and view those other properties on their own merits...and yes I think they might look in the garage if they came out.

Not hard to find a lawyer to take your case if it has merit since the landlord will be paying the bill.
