According to Richard Duncan (the author of that book I mentioned), Japan is never going to be back up, 'cause the same Japanese organizations are outsourcing their Car manufacturing to China (one example) already and so are some of their other industry related operations...Your take on Deflation and Depression is something I support Totally.

As a follow-up to the above, for home mortgages the 3 major Japanese banks have lowered 10-year fixed rates to 1.05%, with some of the internet banks such as Sony offering even more competitive rates at 0.05% variable rate.

So, all in all, unless there is a change political will to bypass lobbyists in decision making, it is hard to see change.Moving on to Hydrogen fuel cells for energy to drive cars and energy production is something Japan and Japanese automakers are pushing for.

It wasn't until the advent of manufactured trusses that 'wide open spaces' became commonplace (Although some of the building techniques in Japanese architecture and borrowed in very high-end bungalow architecture had some incredibly innovative ways to create open spaces, but I digress...)Before removing walls in any structure, you should consult a professional... especially if some dumbass wholesaler is telling you that the brick siding means that there are no load bearing walls!
