For most of us, though, it's better to just buy the index and/or blue chip stocks and hold on for the long term.

On a macro level, Columbus has a new chip plant coming in town which I believe will drive demand, and the price to rent ratio is high which is great for cash flow.Best of luck to you!

Making smaller apartments from single family isn't going to go over well either because people are used to getting more square footage for their money, unlike in NYC.Micron is putting a chip factory in Clay, which is northeast of Syracuse.

I think white would look much better, but I am worried that's going to be a lot more work and I also fear how well the white paint would hold up over time (they are rental units I know they'll take a beating and potentially chip/ scratch).

Granite is quite effective as it is scratch, stain and chip resistant.

I think this would be smart cards with a chip, but not sure.

To upgrade completely ballpark I think 80-100k but I could just keep slowly chipping at it. 

I'd just put the money in blue-chip dividend stocks and start a new business or find a new hobby for something to do.
