Yeah you do have to go to technical school during your apprenticeship.

Usually there is a tuition fee for this, which your GI Bill might cover.In many areas, the various trade unions operate a school and apprenticeship system. 

What would be nice would be for those apprenticeship programs that got ramped up in last couple years to get enough reasonable contractors available.

Learning from my apprenticeship has lead me to feel capable of handling some of the labor and juggling contractors.

It's around 1000 and you do it at home at your own pace....From my conversations with home inspectors, they have had to undergo a mentorship / apprenticeship by tagging along with a certified inspector for something like 100 home inspections.

It can be kind of like an apprenticeship....learn as you go with an experienced team and then when you are comfortable, step out on your own!

I haven't had a job in 12 years and wouldn't ever seek one unless it was an apprenticeship of sorts.I understand keeping a job if you love it, or feel safe that way... or until the real estate business replaces it.
