Example:  I've been investing in Medellin, Colombia since 2015 and have realized 20%-40% returns with a fraction of the downside of the US because of the lack of leverage (3% of Colombians have a mortgage.)

@Stephanie Medellin makes some really good points. 

I've actually been looking to move to Medellin at least part time and do some real estate investing there.

My goal over the next few years is to get a $1,200 per month passive income which is enough to live in Thailand, Bali, Medellin, or other similar areas quite comfortably.
