And I'd rather have a tenant who was laid off from work but has a $25k rainy day fund in the bank, than a tenant whose employment has not been impacted at all, but works in an unskilled low wage job.There are a lot of layers to this onion.

Ultimately, most of your protection will come from insurance, but the LLC can add an extra layer as well as force you to treat your business like a business.It's a bit more nuanced for rentals.
