I'd actually be willing to bet that in the next 10 years you will see greater % appreciation in an area like Lexington around the West Baltimore MARC station than you will in Canton unless Baltimore can figure out how to solve it's property tax problem. 

I recently bought a house in Newark, things are still cheap out here, and I’m still like 50 mins from NY Penn Station.

@Alex Olson That's been the challenge for me since I've only really been stationed overseas in Japan.

It was bought a few years back when I was stationed there and was my primary residence.My current tenants are moving out in a few months and I have the opportunity to get orders back to this base and live back in the house. 

The only problem is I'm currently stationed in Japan and live +13 hours ahead of everyone in EST.

I've been active duty in the Army for the past 5 and a half years and I'm currently stationed in South Korea.

There are trains that go to Penn Station from many parts of the state but it can take 90+ minutes.
