The Beacon Journal article says that Akron mayor Horrigan will be hosting some kind of “landlord council” to discuss the high eviction rates, but it seems that is separate from the rule change.

That being said, it is not a given it can or will be changed.The local Director of Community Development (typically within the zoning or planning department) should have a good sense of what the Zoning and/or community board/council is seeking, and if they are amenable to a change.  50,000 sf is just larger than an acre.

For those interested, here is my understanding so far:Fill out a formal request/use permit and submit to the city planning office with a $660 application fee (crazy) Request will be presented to the planning commission that meets first Tuesday of each monthRequest will be heard at the City Council the month after the planning commission hearing Request will then be presented at a public works discussionSurrounding homes in the neighborhood will receive a notice of my request with the option to appeal ???

the rental regulations snowball in seattle is still picking up steam as it rolls downhill it seems - the latest proposal by certain council members is a full eviction moratorium during the coldest 5 months of the year,  regardless of tenant behavior,  and of course zero mitigation to the owner.There isn't a glut of small MF in seattle for sale by any means,  but there are a fair amount of those on right now so anybody who is interested in buying that type of property in seattle has some options.
