I wanted to get some insight from others on if this is true since I can't find a good answer on the IRS website, and if it is true why does anyone want to gain real estate professional status?

Pay the bill yourself, then reimburse yourself by charging the tenants based on a formula.

----For others reading/commenting on this thread, I would like to clarify a few items:-We have hundreds of builders and property managers that have been approved to market their services on our platform.

I flew there and walked the house, looked pretty turnkey rental grade): $1029 GFCI outlets, downspouts and guards, drywall, paint, bathroom vent$4615 (new AC unit since unit was stolen before tenant moved in, didn't file insurance claim because didn't want my premium to go up) $600 (water line, gas line, P trap)$60 lawn mowing$112  thermostat repairMy opinion is that Class C is better for local investors who are on site and know how to do repairs and self manage.

It makes the math very tough on purchasing, at least from my perspective. 

Everything my realtor sends me is already on Zillow and has many eyes/bids.

I would not discuss a claim unless you intend on filing it.
